TERRIFYING : Minister says “Violence begets violence” is biblical

Mr. Mark Owen Woyongo
Despite several calls from various pressure groups for his resignation or dismissal as Interior Minister, Mr. Mark Owen Woyongo still maintains that his comment “Violence begets violence” is biblical.

Mr. Woyongo has recently been in the news for his comments that seems to have justified the violent attacks between members of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) during Talensi by-elections.
Commenting on alleged crash between the NDC’s Azorka Boys and NPP’s Bolga Bull-dogs, the Minister said, “Violence begets violence”, much to the surprise of many Ghanaians who thinks his comments clearly endorses the terrible scenes that occurred in Talensi.
His comments has sparked several calls in both the media and social media for his resignation or dismissal by the President.

However, it seems Mr. Woyongo still sees nothing wrong with his comments by insisting that his “Violence begets violence” view on the Talensi by-elections is Biblical and thus owes no apology for that.

It is however not clear whether the Interior Minister was making reference to Matthew 11:12 which say “From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and violent men take it by force”.

The Minister further quashed calls for his removal of office in an interview with NEAT FM and said he was yet to meet the president on the matter.
