Aggrieved Industrial workers hit streets of Tema

ICU Demo
Aggrieved members of the Industrial Workers Union (ICU) have today hit the streets of Tema to protest against ailing economy and high cost of living.

The group numbering hundreds accused government for failing to implement policies that will see standards of living improved.

Some workers held placards some of which read: “System Failure: Mahama’s government reboot now", "Why have we the people become a nation sheep?", and "Ebolaic economic policies killing workers” in a demonstration which was on the theme: "The state of the economy and its effects on Ghanaian workers."

Secretary to the group, Mr. Solomon Kotei later at a Press briefing said slammed government’s decision to go for the bailout, adding that that has given the IMF greenlight to rule the country.

He noted that 17 production companies in the Sekondi/Takoradi Metropolis among other several companies in the country have shut down sending thousands of workers home.

He lamented over governments continues failure to deploy proper policies to help salvage the economy from completely collapsing.
